The
DFI-7000 Series expansion
joint is normally supplied
as a factory assembled unit,
ready for installation. Our
scope of
supply would consist of the
angle iron framework, flat
bar retainers with fasteners
and the flexible element.
This
configuration lends itself
primarily to atmospheres
not exceeding 600 degree
F temperature. In specific
circumstances it
can, however, be manufactured
utilizing a flow liner which
would permit the use of a
composite or high temperature
flexible
element.

The hex nuts retaining the
belt can be tack welded to
the flow side of the framework,
if a customer prefers. This
allows for
removal of the belt from
outside of the duct.
A major
convenience that is provided
with this DFI-7000 series
is most apparent at installation
time.
Like our
2000 and 6000 series joints,
the DFI-7000 series can be
slid in between existing
companion flanges and bolted
up.
Both the bolt head and nut
of the mounting fasteners
is extremely accessible.
Experienced
field personnel will always
confirm the many costly hours
that are usually, unnecessary,
if more consideration was
given to potential installation
problems.
The DFI-7000 series
expansion joint is manufactured
in both round and rectangular
configurations. As on all
DESIGN FAB rectangular joints,
we suggest the use of radiused
corner sections to wrap the
flexible element around.
This extends
the service life of the element
and provides a much tighter
seal between the element,
retainer and framework.
